A note for parents regarding the current situation.

Hello all,

Firstly, I must say that I hope you are all managing to stay well and stay safe. I’m sure the fun of ‘home learning’ from schools is keeping you up at night and keeping your children busy and occupied.

The main purpose of this article/email is to give you a bit of an update, as to how the junior set up will look this year.

As it stands, as in line with ECB guidelines, all junior cricket leagues and for that matter all junior cricket is suspended until further notice. This is clearly the obvious and sensible decision to have been made, and we ultimately have nothing further than that to say regarding the actual playing of competitive cricket.

With regards to membership and registration, as a club we are constantly monitoring the situation. Our plan, as it stands, will be to assess the situation when we do eventually get the all clear to get things up and running from the ECB. Cost of the season as a whole will be determined as a matter of urgency when this all clear is given. We do however want to reassure you, that the cost of membership for this season, will reflect the amount of opportunity to actually get training sessions on and the amount of matches we are able to play.

At this point I must also echo the statement released by the club yesterday, in asking all members to stay away from the nets during this time. Club facilities for the time being are off limits for all activities. If you are however within walking distance of the club, and want to use the facilities for a walk or a light jog as part of your one daily dose of exercise ( NO DOGS), please feel free to do so, whilst obviously making sure we maintain and look after the ground. Please DO NOT bring your car in order to do this. Firstly as this is in contradiction to government advice, and secondly as we intend to lock the gate into the driveway very soon.

I will continue to stay in touch as much as possible with regards to the running of the junior section this year. As I am certain you all appreciate, the whole situation is unclear and dependent on our continued hard work to ensure the safety of others.

I hope you continue to stay safe, and I think I speak on behalf of all at Chearsley Cricket Club in saying we look forward to welcoming you all back in the not too distant future. Our coaches are really keen to get started and will be ready to go as soon as we can! Stay safe and sensible!

Kind Regards,
Angie Gray
