Cheltenham Cricket Club offer a safe and friendly environment for your children to have fun learning to play the wonderful game of cricket. As a Clubmark accredited Club, we are recognised for our high standards of cricket coaching and support for junior cricketers. This year we are looking to further develop our juniors section with continued investment designed to offer more opportunity, better coaching and more enjoyment for all our boys and girls.
A Junior player’s age group is determined by their age on 1st September in the previous year.
Under 9,11,13,15,16,19 therefore means under that age on 1st September 2017 for the upcoming 2018 season.
The club has continued its initiative to upgrade cricket coaching and facilities at all levels. More coachers are attending Coach Education Courses this winter, adding additional qualified coaches to our register. These initiatives will help the club achieve its objectives to improve the quality of its coaching but also improve our coach to player ratios.
Our website has become the member’s central communication hub for all cricket matters on and off the field. Once a junior player is registered team managers can email or text message a parent/player to advise on team selection with match details.
For anyone looking to join our junior section, please contact our Junior Chairman, John Cropper
Help us build a sustainable community club
Please don’t be backward in coming forward. It’s how we all got involved and enjoy sharing the fun with our children. Please contact John Cropper to find out more.
And for those of you who would like to support but currently have too much on the go, please join our 200 Club
We will be entering teams in six age groups in a number of friendly and competitive league fixtures. The Club Handbook will have a comprehensive list, and of course will also be posted on this website.
We generally use Pitchero’s Manager App to contact members if matches and/or training sessions are likely to be disrupted, but we also advertise such updates via our social media pages.
The Club are aligned with ECB Regulations & Guidance on issues such as the wearing of helmets, fast bowling directives, junior players in competitive adult cricket etc.
We may wish to video players for coaching purposes. In addition, we may wish to take still photographs, e.g. team photographs. In the current climate, it is recognised that some parents may object to this. If this is so in your case, please let your Junior Manager know in writing.
Only those details which you personally authorise are available to other members. Any other information which you input is available only to approved administrators within the Club. Registration gives you access to the members' section of the website.
Things for you to consider
For the Junior section to be a success we need help from parents, so please:
• Encourage your Junior in all endeavours to improve his/her game and in the adoption of a sporting attitude
• Support the Coaches and Team Managers. If you are unhappy with any of their actions they will be happy to discuss matters with you
• Provide appropriate kit for your junior
• Bring and collect your junior on time – not five minutes late
• Support juniors during matches. If your junior is playing in a match come and watch; this is most needed at away matches. Otherwise, juniors will still appreciate your support during home matches
We always need help with scoring, umpiring and coaching. If you are willing to help with any of these, please come forward. Contact Geoff Trett for further information.
