This return fixture with local rivals was always going to be tough as the visitors were keen to reverse the result of their earlier encounter. It was a very nervous start for Cheshunt as they battled to keep a strong youthful Broxbourne team at bay. Broxbourne made their possession tell early in the game when a cleanly struck ball into the D from their left wing was calmly lifted over the Cheshunt keeper. Cheshunt tried hard to lift their game but struggled to find any rhythm and were unable to capitalise on the few chances that came their way. Broxbourne then found their second before the break, as the ball bounced around and rebounded off the Cheshunt Captain to find the back of the net. It was always going to be an uphill battle in the second half, but despite Cheshunt’s best efforts, it wasn’t going to be their day. As they pushed forward to try and salvage something from the game, they found themselves open to another move from Broxbourne which resulted in an early shot to give them a comfortable 3-0 outcome. Cheshunt still hold on at the top of the league, due to games in hand, but they need to focus on their last games if they wish to keep themselves in the running.
