Cheshunt Ladies’ visit to Shefford and Sandy provided a well deserved victory as they returned to scoring ways to take another three points. The game was very one sided from the outset as Cheshunt exploited the spaces and created some good chances. They moved the ball efficiently and set up some good open play opportunities, but it was a set play that produced the first goal, as Genny Hill’s penalty corner strike was tapped over the line by Deb Stokes. Their second followed shortly after when Jane Reid’s strike was helped over the line by the Shefford defence. The game continued to be one-sided, despite the home sides determination to build their attack with some tight passing moves. Cheshunt failed to add to their score until mid way through the second half when an open play move enabled Georgia Read to slot the ball past the advancing keeper. The fourth goal was another penalty corner strike, again from Jane Reid as she took full advantage of the time and space that she was given which enabled her to find just the right spot. Shefford and Sandy tried hard to put pressure on the Cheshunt goal but the Cheshunt defence were having none of it as the back line held firm yet again. Cheshunt are hoping to put together another team victory next week as they face Broxbourne in their first encounter this season, in a vital top of the table clash.
