An update from the Board

I can assure you that if you walk past Boughton Hall or The Garrison, you’ll see both are in great shape.
- Jeremy Jordan, Chairman of Directors, CBHCC Limite

Following last week's CBHCC Limited's director's meeting, we're pleased to bring you this update from Chairman of Directors, Jeremy Jordan.

Strangest of times

The health of family and friends is everyone's top priority right now. The pandemic has seen many painful family bereavements and I know I speak for everyone in sending our deepest sympathies to Jim Gilson for the loss of his father, and to Dave Atkin whose mother has passed away. Our thoughts are with their families.

Club life however, must go on even if our day to day routines have been turned upside down and our plans put on hold through lockdown.

Keeping on top of our finances

Our biggest challenge is managing our finances through this crisis. The clubhouse and grounds have to be maintained as we can’t do nothing for weeks or months and then play cricket or football at the click of a finger. However, I can assure you that if you walk past Boughton Hall or The Garrison, you’ll see both are in great shape. One we get the all clear to play sport again, we'ill be ready to go. The help of members such as Tom Evans, Taff Roberts, Jack Green and Alex West amongst others has been fantastic and of great assistance.

The challenge we face

While we’re on top of security and insurance, it comes at a cost. In addition, machinery has to be paid for (in some cases on lease), maintained and replaced (a new strimmer just this week). Utilities have reduced but are still being used. So overheads are still there but with a closed bar, income is massively reduced.

Members are ‘putting in'

Thankfully member support has been tremendous. Subscriptions are coming in with vice presidents in particular, being very prompt and generous. A huge thank you to everyone who's contributed. It really does make a difference.

There've been several new income streams including the Grand National sweep and weekly quiz. Not only is this extra income important but it's also brought a great community spirit to the Club at a difficult time. Many have helped with Tom, Lee, Jack, Jim Gilson and Dave/Harry being especially busy. I'd also like to give thanks from us all for Jim Law’s hard work in keeping us updated and entertained on the website. There have been many more volunteers and if I've missed anyone, I apologise.

Looking ahead

Nobody knows how long it'll be before we’ll play cricket or football at our grounds - we hope sooner rather than later. In the meantime I can assure everyone that the Club will be as strong as ever when we get to that point. We'll also be ready to play as quickly as allowed, following all safety guidance.

We’ll let you know as soon as we have any news.

In the meantime please keep safe and keep smiling.
