CBH 68 (26.2 overs), Leigh 69-2

Scorecard

Two weeks after winning the league title at home against Stockport Trinity, Chester fielded an unorthodox side, giving players an opportunity to shine in different roles.

CBH were all out for 68 inside 27 overs and Leigh batted well and knocked the total off in 18 overs.

Despite the disappointing result, there were a number of impressive individual performances for CBH.

From a batting perspective, Gemma Rose opened the batting and impressed, hitting a few good shots before departing for 12 after being bowled.

Daisy Cooke, who has predominantly been used as a bowler this season, came in at number four and showed glimpses of her batting ability before being caught for 8 in the 13th over.

Tilly Buss, who usually bats at number 11, came in at five and impressed with the bat and the highlight of her innings was a lovely cover drive that went for four. She was eventually caught for 12 in the 20th over.

This was Tilly’s last game for CBH, and the vice-captain has been an integral part of the women’s team’s resurgence over the past few years, picking up 43 wickets in her three seasons at the club.

There were some decent performances with the ball too, Ffion Jones opened the bowling and utilised the new ball well.

Gemma capped off an excellent year by taking her 25th wicket of the season with a tricky delivery that was well caught by Ali Cutler at slip.

Netty Axon picked up her 12th wicket of the season with a good delivery that was impressively caught by Sara Williams at mid-off.

Leigh knocked off the total in 18 overs and handed Chester their second loss in an otherwise fantastic season.
