Along with our colleagues across the Cheshire County League and Liverpool Competition, we were deeply saddened this weekend to hear off the sudden passing of Ian Cockbain.
As well as representing his Cheshire County with such distinction (captain from 1991 - 2001), we enjoyed many tussles with his Liverpool Competition sides over the years.
He was, as Club Captain Chris Fleet recollects, "A man of distinction, cricketing intellect, style and panache.
"A man who brought flair and style to the cricket field and somebody who Chester Boughton Hall CC admired hugely. There were many tussles between our respective clubs, each played in such great style with camaraderie's that was second to none. What a sad loss.
"We doff our cricket cap to Ian, his family, Wallasey CC, Formby CC, Lancashire CCC, Cheshire CCC and all the cricketing world he touched and influenced."
Our sincere condolences to Ian's friends and family.
