The Pink Army’s day of reckoning arrived with the Jewsbury Cup decider against the Vets. After an early pitch inspection and a bizarre stand off which lead to us playing the game on the worse pitch available the game was on.

The free flowing pinks started the brighter and took the lead after some fine work to put the ever youthful Gulzar through to calmly slot home. But the vets rallied and levelled shortly after. Spaven a constant danger on the left agonisingly hit the post from distance, then moments after put the uphill Pinks 2-1 up as we went into the break.

A shuffle of the pack of to keep legs fresh saw 1st team cricket skipper Harry Killoran pushed upfront with the lively Ben Harvey and it didn’t take the baby faced ginger assassin long to make his mark, making it 3-1.

As the pitch begun to resemble the Western Front the tricky Pinks continued to play superb football with Tom Wyatt and George McCormack bossing the midfield and some enchanting build up play saw Jack Williams slide home and made it 4-1.

As the Vetrans legs in the tough conditions wilted, the young guns ran riot as Killoran bagged his second. An excellent bullet header bought a rare moment of joy for Nomads to make it 5-2 but this didn’t stop the Pink's enthusiasm as a pinpoint through ball from player manager Law saw Spaven make it 6-2. Waves of Pink pressure continued and the Killoran hatrick put the score to an incredible 7-2. We weren’t finished however as Sheehan McDonnell capped his second half debut with the eighth and it was all over.

A match eventually played in the right spirit and a truly magnificent performance by every man on a very difficult surface. We were solid at the back and controlling across the park with Hatrick Killoran winning Man of the Match from his peers.

Thank you to our legion of supporters who braved the elements to support us and to Chester Nomads for inviting us into there inter club Jewsbury Cup competition.
