Jamie Griffiths does the damage with the ball before Rick's half century.

The premier cup competition in all sports ever (according to Geo) was back. Bramhall away in a repeat of the first round tie from last year. Similarly sultry day and, nose injuries aside, it was a rather sedate start to a Sunday afternoon. Dan and Joe have been in fine form in the 2s and replaced Reg and Noah from Saturday.
Bramhall decided to bat or that Chester could go out and field in the heat - depends how you look at it. Geo, relishing the return of his favourite competition, opened up with Rick. They bowled tightly giving Bramhall nothing to hit. Some excellent fielding from Chester put a lid on the scoring with Rick taking the first wicket. A lot less fire power in Branhall's side with Nick Cantello hobbling on the side lines and their Aussie off to hospital to simultaneously have his broken finger confirmed and his summer of English cricket ruined; hopefully that's not the case.
Jamie Griffiths, with wickets in the bank from Saturday, replaced Geo who went unrewarded. He immediately did for captain Dixon (not that one) courtesy of a terrific grab from Gus. Jamie bowled aggressively and took another 3 scalps in a match-defining spell of 4 for 13 from his 6 overs which set Bramhall firmly on the back foot. Jack shuffled the pack and gave his assortment of bowlers a chance to get some overs under their belts. Alex Money, although wicketless, bowled a fine spell of flighty off-spin going for just 4 from his 7 overs. Jake and Pat took a wicket each and Rick a second as Bramhall's batting was kept at bay in scoring only 117 from their 40 overs. The wicket wasn't that tricky surely?
Kudos to Joe and Jamie's efforts in the field making countless saves and, in Joe's case, taking a catch.
The batting response never really looked in doubt and despite the early loss of Pat, the Chester batters made hay. Rick's classy 52 and Money's 32 not out did the bulk of the damage before an aggressive Kilby cameo of 19 from 7 balls sealed the win. Into the hat for the next round. Noah would know the odds on the likelihood of a repeat trip to Didsbury in the next round...oh well!
