After three league wins out of three that have seen Chester Boughton Hall move up to third place in the ECB Cheshire Premier League, Chester host fourth placed Hyde this Saturday, 9 July.
The two sides know each well and will also meet two weeks later in the Cheshire Cup.
Skipper Lee Dixon is relishing the game. “It’ll be great to pit our wits up against a very talented side,” he said. “The likes of Harry Dearden, James Duffy and Danny Berry are capable of destroying the very best of attacks and we’ll have our workcut out to contain them. Wily seamer Jason Whittaker is likely to be leading their attack and they’ve a useful Aussie bowler in William Walker too.
“We had a really tough, close game at the beginning of the season when we lost out to them in the last over. I thought we were a little unlucky that day so it would be great to turn things round.”
Dixon’s side have found their feet in the league and are well placed to mount a serious challenge for the title during the second half of the season. “Our last two wins showed the real depth in our side,” Dixon continued. “Warren Goodwin and Rick Moore chased down 257 against Bramhall whilst last week rain interruptions effectively meant we had to switch to T20 mode as we needed 209 from 25 overs. The contributions from the likes of Ross Dixon and Nick James were invaluable in that win”.
Dixon will delay naming his side until the last minute as he checks on a couple of knocks picked up in Newbury where half the Chester side were on Cheshire duty this week.
