Comprehensive 9 wicket win on a good Chester batting deck.

What a difference a week makes. Beautiful summery skies above the ground which looked an absolute picture. No worries about rain delays or interruptions either. Dan lost the toss and Chester were asked to take the field, it seemed like a good toss to have lost. Matty Brayne and Alex Towned started things off and Brayno quickly got things going with an early one removing Ben Balderson for 0. Wiggy at the other end bowled well and it became obvious that the track was flat and so good fielding and tight bowling were needed.
Brayno has been in good form this season with the ball but not yet reaped the rewards so when Baker clipped one to Sam at mid-on, it was well deserved. Sam replaced Wiggy and hit his nagging line and length almost immediately as the tight fielding kept the runs down. Tom Wyatt was sharp behind the stumps and the scoreboard dragged its feet. Rob Fisher replaced Brayno and took the game by the scruff of the neck, reducing the Hyde batting to blocks or risky singles. With 9 maidens in his 15 overs, he was tough to play and every time Hyde hit the ball in anger, it went to a fielder with Dan taking one to remove Balderson Sr. and Joe Killer clutching one at square-leg. The skipper replaced Sam and struck first ball again Joe taking the catch. At 82 for 8, the innings was nearly done but Charlie Hewitt had other ideas and picked up a few boundaries in his quick fire 37 before being run out. Innings over. Rob Fisher the bowling star with figures of 15-9-28-6. Top spin bowling.
Tea was taken and Dil was joined by Griff to get things moving. Momentum with Chester and the openers kept it there as they savagely dispatched anything off line as they rattled up a 107 run partnership inside 15 overs. Since the skipper suggested Griff wasn't a stroke maker he has been just that and his innings was full of dismissive drives and excellent pull shots. A straight drive off Steve White early in the piece perhaps his best shot. Dil at the other end was taking no prisoners and dealing in boundaries too - why run? He smashed drive after drive straight and hit Ben Balderson and he left the field with a bruised shin. Dil eventually perished for a rapid 42 caught at long on going for another 6. The back of the score was broken and as Griff and Noah faced a barrage of bonkers from Ebbrell, the score plodded along before Noah hit the winning 4. Griff finished 69 not out including 14 fours. 25 points by 5:30.
The game was set up by the bowlers and put away by the top 3. It was an excellent batting deck and had Chester batted, 240 would have been the target so to keep Hyde below 150 was excellent. All five bowlers were key to that and with no byes from Tom Wyatt as the highlight, the fielding display was superb - much tighter than Tuesday.

MotM - Robin Fisher who was back to his top form of last season.
DotD - Tom Wyatt for turning up late due to tiredness caused by over sleeping!?
