Fishy took 6 wickets and Dan 3 to bowl Macc out before a solid batting display from Griff and Joey K seal the points.

They're like busses, victories apparently. Wait for ages then two arrive within no time. This one was just as comprehensive as the previous week but done on the chase. Macclesfield chose to bat on a pitch looking likely to suit the slower bowlers. They needed points, not for prizes but to stay in the division. A young side with lots to learn and one that will be formidable opposition in years to come.
No Sam but Brayno back from the wilds of the Cornish Coast to open with Wiggy. Both ran in and tried to do the right things but in France, they encountered a proper opening batter intent on making the most of his day in the Chester sun. Fifty up after ten overs so Griff turned to the senior bowlers in Dan and Fishy to slow things down. Dan settled in to bowling maidens in a spell of 15 overs which went for just 22. Fishy removed Coombs and Dan then did for France who had compiled an excellent 50. This began something of a procession as the pace off options accounted for a string of batters. 50 for 0 became 120 for 9. Fishy took an excellent 6 for 56 spinning the ball and using his flight and guile to befuddle the opposition. An outstanding spell. Dan managed 3 too which sugar coated his miserly spell. With the skipper looking for another slower option, he threw Joe Killoran the ball and amongst the full tosses, he spun the ball prodigiously. The last pair rallied and a straight forward chance went down off Wiggy, the merest of blots on what had otherwise been an exemplary fielding landscape.
163 to score and 50 overs to do it. Griff and Modge have become a solid opening pair and they looked to repeat the excellent partnership Modge had enjoyed with Dicko in the reverse fixture. Both found their form and hit their usual areas. Runs flowed. A last home game and a final chance to score runs on the best ground around. Modge (31) though spurned the chance to go big as the Macc skipper shuffled his pack. Jack perished early too but Spavo and Griff continued before the skipper fell for a fine 49.
Some wobbles in the middle after Spavo went for 22 then both Ogilbys for a run apiece but Joe Killoran was doing the trick. HE hit ten fours in his brisk 50 and he looks perfect to bat at 5 going forward. When he played one shot too many, it was left to Brayno to do his thing and he whipped the ball away for 4 to sort the victory. Scenes is the phrase used for that.
Freddie disappears off to big school for the winter whilst Jack and Spavo have other engagements but all 3 have been key wheels in the cog; more to come next year!

DotD - Griff because he told the team off for not clapping enough when he was batting.
MotM - Fishy for some truly marvellous spin bowling.
