Another away win, chasing down Alderley Edge's 158 in 35 overs.

Another game in a heat wave - it's getting silly now - at Alderley Edge which is still as picturesque as ever. They're a tricky side to gauge in that they can an amazing side in the middle of summer when schools are out and people want to play in the sun. Indeed a good eleven in need of points to ensure their Premier League status. Dan lost the toss and was asked to bowl which is never a bad thing! Brayno back from his Spanish sojourn but Freddie in the ones so the novel idea of Griff and Joe doing half the glove work each with an eye on fitness for the next day.
Wiggy tore in from the off and found life in a pitch which was very green (yes win a heatwave). He removed one of the openers by castling the stumps but tired quickly and understandably in the heat so Dan replaced him with Reg Wyatt after 7 excellent overs. At the other end Brayno was finding his line and length after a tricky first couple of overs. He slowed his pace and was tough to score off.
So to Reg. He has opened the batting, kept wicket, had half a season off having kept wicket and returned as a bowling all rounder! We're not confused as he's good at all aspects of the game. It was clearly swinging and Atif grabbed the first chance offered up at slip before Modge grabbed on to dismiss the dangerous looking Bhamidipati.
Brayno's mammoth stint of 13 overs came to a wicketless end but he had controlled the scoring going at precisely 3s. Liam and Dil in together and Reg off - he can only bowl a limited number apparently. There then followed some big shots and tremendous catching as the Yahathugodas cut loose. Dil's 20 reached and out caught by Fish - diving no less - off the skipper. He did nearly do for Sharon Wyatt on the long on boundary with a firmly struck 6! Chapman came and blasted a few before Spavo took one of the great catches running round the boundary and diving full-length: marvellous.
Wiggy replaced Dan to blast out the tail and he did finishing with 3 for. Liam batted well for his 26. Fishy again in the wickets with another 4.
Dan shuffled the order but kept Griff and Luke at the top after their 250 plus opening stand of the return fixture. But Griff was removed (caught or LBW, pick for yourself) bringing Reg to the crease. His effortless looking form continued. In a season where lots of batters have looked in good touch, Reg has looked perhaps the best and it's a shame he missed so many games. He's still managed over 300 runs in his 8 innings in the 2s.
His quick fire 34 at a run a ball put the chase well on track. But once he and Luke (35) had fallen, there came a collapse as both Modge and Joe succumbed to the dreaded duck. Atif and Spavo in with 75 still needed.
In fairness, they made it look easier than it probably was. The seem bowlers found good lines and lengths but both played watchfully although Atif was off the mark first ball blasting a one bounce four over cover! Their unbroken partnership saw things home in the 35th over with a characteristically classy cover drive from Spavo to seal the win. Ten wins in a row and every other team in the league beaten. A good day.

MotM - Reg Wyatt for his all-round contributions.
DotD - Joe Killoran who disappeared for an age when he was supposed to be changing his pads.
