The Thirds embarked on their longest voyage of the season to Bollington last Saturday. After all eventually located the picturesque ground, the toss was won and George asked the home side to bat.
Last weeks opening duo of Ben Harvey and Ram Kavadapu kicked off proceedings, both bowling tightly and deserved more in the wickets column. 20 overs passed and CBH had yet to make a breakthrough although a couple of chances had slipped by. Chris Willsdon who replaced Ram eventually claimed the first scalp of the day with a low full toss, he would go on to return his best figures of the season so far, picking up an impressive 4. Ben completed his 13 at the other end, collecting only a single wicket, smartly caught and bowled, but conceding just 15 runs in the process. The Bollington innings ticked along although the scoreboard trailed behind. Chris Bell had now entered the attack and the 3’s had a real control of the game, in part due to the tight fielding display carrying on from last week. Chris spent no time getting into his groove and would go on to take 5-10 in 9 and a half overs as the 3’s dismissed Bollington for 72 after nearly 45 overs on the turf. No bowler of the 5 had an economy rate greater than 2, and 9 of the 10 dismissals came from a Chris of some description.
The Thirds wasted no time chasing down Bolly’s total, surpassing their score inside 12 overs. Moss and Charlie both contributing 30-odd a piece to make in 4 out of 4. A beer was enjoyed afterwards outdoors in the Bollington local overlooking the ground to finish off the afternoon.
Local derby at home next week, as the 3’s welcome Christleton to Filkins lane.
