Metcalf Sets up, Maddocks Cleans Up

This week saw the 3’s welcome Timperley, who sat 3rd in the league and rumour quickly spread of them chasing 250 every week. Tommy Evans was at the helm this week due to another absence from Dave Fisher.
Tommy won the toss and elected to bat because the committee live rent free in his head.

Ste green and Ian Metcalf were to open the batting this week, as fan favourite MODGE got the call up for the second eleven. CBH started well as Ste treen looked to take it to the Timperley bowlers with his cover drives going through mid wicket. Ian Metcalf was rolling back the years at the other end, providing nearly a run a ball which is unheard of from the silver fox these days.
All was going well until Ste green was caught out on 26, in came Reg Wyatt. Reg would accompany Ian Metcalf, who had just brought up his 50.
Ian looked to kick on after his 50, hitting four 4’s in an over. Unfortunately, he was eventually bowled on 77. A great knock from the youngster nonetheless.
George Metcalf, son of Ian and first of his name, joined Reg at the crease. Reg shortly fell for 21, who was followed by George who was caught in the deep on 14. This brought in Karl Stedman and Tommy Evans. The pair put together put on a 30 run partnership before they were dismissed (Tommy Evans questionably so).
Jack McLovin McGovern and Joe Maddocks were sent in at the end for nuclear bombs.
McLovin started the charge, hitting two straight bombs. Joe maddocks followed suit with a bomb into the gardens and a flurry of 4s. The pair got out for 43 and 25 respectively providing some much-needed runs at the end for Tommy Evans to Declare on 262 off 40 overs. A great batting performance all round.

Without usual opening bowling of Dave Fisher, Joe Maddocks was called up to open up with Ben Harvey.
This proved a great improvisation as Joe Maddocks got the early breakthrough while Ben Harvey was piling on the pressure at the other end. The pair claimed the wickets of the top 7, with Joe Maddocks getting 6 and Ben Harvey getting 1.
Ben Harvey was then replaced by Sahil, whilst Maddogg continued at the bell end.
Joe maddocks claimed another in his last over and ended up on 7-46 off 14 well bowled sir! Will fisher was brought on at the other end to accompany McLovin. McLovin enjoyed a short spell until Reg Wyatt replaced him. Reg broke the deadlock claiming the 9th wicket in his 4 over spell.
After Reg came Ben Harvey to finish off, Ben got the 10th wicket in his first over.

A great performance from CBH and a 25 point win sees them 9/9.

Onto the next when we welcome Barnton at Filkins Lane
