CBH Ladies’ 2nd X1

Sunday 15th May saw the 2nd X1 host Wistaston in a 30 over Division 3 West match. Having won the toss, Mandy Humphreys elected to field, and it didn’t take long before Tilsley (1) was superbly caught and bowled by Ava Rogers with the score on 7. Next to go was Amy Bourne (2), clean bowled by Ava, who took her third wicket bowling Biggs for a duck, Wistaston were reeling on 12 for 3. Davies came to join Jarvis at the crease and improved the run rate until Jarvis (1) was run out by Ava. Howle was bowled by Jess Jones, without troubling the scorers, with Wistaston now on 28 for 6. Davies (7) was bowled by Netty Axon, followed by Anna Bourne (2) bowled by Lucy McCarten. Netty’s second victim was Birchall, bowled for a duck, Lucy then hit the stumps of Smith (0). Netty mopped up the last batter Whitehurst (2) caught by Ffion Jones. An impressive performance saw Wistaston all out for 36 off 17.5 overs, which included 21 extras – less wides would be good next time!

In reply, Juliet Wiles and Amy Ince opened the batting and with only 3 on the board Amy was caught behind for 1 off the bowling of Howle. Ava joined Jules (1) at the crease, who was soon clean bowled by Bourne, so things looked a bit dodgy with us on 5 for 2. Jenny Marvel and Ava then set about attacking the Wistaston bowlers taking our score to 37 in the 11th over. Ava finished on 10 and Jenny on 18.
