Positive batting and disciplined performance in the field sealed 39 run win.

A visit to Davenham for the second round of the national Vitality T20 Cup saw CBH outperform a good-spirited Davenham side with a 39 run victory.

CBH lost the toss and was invited to bat first. Skipper Cayo and Josh H batted with control but positively, putting Davenham under pressure every ball. A run rate of 6 through good running and putting away the bad ball was pleasing to watch.

Cayo anchored the partnership, whilst Josh H resumed his successful season and batted with a maturity beyond his years (13) before being out lbw with the score on 46. Josh H now has an average for CBH! An average of 140; 140 runs, 4 innings at over a run a ball, with no risk-taking shots.

Archie came and went quickly for 12, replaced by Zak. Zak took on the instruction to be 'busy' and played himself in whilst constantly rotating strike and keeping the score moving. Josh L and Nav supported Zak, and with some big hitting to accelerate when needed, he hit one of the coach's cars with a huge six leaving a dent and a lovely pink mark on Rhys' car. CBH got to the last over with Zak a few runs short of his half-century and secured it off the last ball of the innings.

An imposing total of 143 to chase down for Davenham.

Maaz and Ram opened the bowling with Ram bowling 'heat' and intimidating the opening Davenham pair. After an injury scare to Maxwell Scott, Davenham settled, and George Wilbraham liked quick and full bowling, hitting Maaz for several boundaries.

After an unsuccessful 'experiment' of Josh L bowling pace, Cayo changed the attack for Sam Curtis and Archie. Sam went at 2 an over; Archie at 1.5, taking the wicket of the high scoring George Wilbraham for 44 at a strike rate of 169.23.

With 10 overs gone, Davenham were up with the required run rate, but with tight bowling from Nav and Zak backed up by excellent pressure fielding, CBH closed out the game as convincing winners.

Thank you to all the parents for getting the lads there on time, despite the sat nav issues the ground 'provides', and to Rhys for great high energy warm up to focus the boys.

The next round is a home game against Irby CC and must be before June 1st.

MoM- Zak Rogers for a composed innings that set the winning total.
DoD- Coach Damo for the lateness!
