Mature performance beating Northop Hall CC

This game was the first NWJL fixture of the season at HQ against Northop Hall CC.

NH batted first and got off to a reasonable run rate until the 4th over when Archie took 2 in 2, including 'fellow' squad member Josh L's first ball. NH avoided the hat-trick, but it began a spell where CBH reduced the run rate and increased pressure.

Harrison and Sam joined the attack, with Sam bowling a set batter with his second ball. NH scored at 4s, with H Pritchard retiring on 35. Ben Pold came on and took a wicket, quickly followed by Ben Rofe taking a wicket in his first over.

NH consolidated and set CBH 104 to win.

Archie and Josh H opened. Archie was aggressive from his first ball scoring at a strike rate of 137.5. Josh H played his typical discerning innings and rotated the strike with Archie putting the NH fielders under pressure.

With the score of 32 in the 4th over, they pushed their luck, and Archie in a close decision, but an excellent direct hit from the mid-wicket fielder saw Archie run out for an assertive score of 22 of 16.

Zak joined Josh H, and both continued to bat sensible and proactively without taking unnecessary risks. Showing maturity beyond their years, they batted through to Josh H retiring for the second time in his two innings for the club on 35 with the score on 101, seeing his new side almost home.

The Skipper, Cayo, came in to take a quick single and let Zak finish the game with a huge six to the longest boundary of the field.

Another composed performance and everyone contributed. Thank you to Al for running the game and to the CBH groundstaff for another excellent wicket and environment for the boys to develop as future CBH players.

MoM- Zak for his very mature innings to see us home
DoD- Sam for 'shut' music during the game, only narrowly beaten to it by the Skipper going to the wrong ground!
