Crusaders crush Gladiators

An experimental Chester Gladiators suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in a friendly match against Clatterbridge Crusaders.

The Crusaders, who have been in existence for several years and regularly complete against Co-Operative Rugby League Conference National club Liverpool Buccaneers, had two much experience and power for an inexperienced Gladiators team.

Chester battled bravely up until the final whistle and scored four tries of their own but were undone once again by some naive defence against a more experienced outfit.

Loose forward Martin Cormack claimed two tries in a solid display whilst winger Lee Tasker touched down for a great try after a fine kick by James Wrathall. The fourth and final try of the game was scored by John Gill, whose strong run from fifteen yards out saw him carry several Crusaders defenders over the line.

The Gladiators return to action on Saturday 28th June when they travel to the midlands to face Wolverhampton Warlords in an RL Merit League clash.
