Having kicked off the 2016 campaign with a 22-16 home defeat to Burtonwood Bridge, Chester travelled to Warrington to face a Rovers side full of confidence after thrashing of Wigan St Cuthberts 72-6.
Woolston began well and opened the scoring with a converted try but that was as good as things got for the hosts with the Gladiators hitting back quickly and then taking the lead.
Teenage centre Daniel Munt crossed first with Joel Gibbs adding the extras to level the scores and loose forward Ben Stelmaszek went over next with Gibbs’ sucessful conversion giving the visitors a 12-6 advantage.
Chester increased that lead when Munt’s centre partner Jonny Rae touched down and further scores from Ryan Turner and Tom Bradfield along with another two points from the boot of Gibbs sealed the victory.
Woolston were not without their fair share of possession but the home side found the the Gladiators defence in no mood to concede further points with some big hits helping to keep Rovers out.
