2nds and 3rds Appeal Hearing
The RFU appeal hearing was held at the Double Tree Hotel last evening.
In summary, the panel upheld the North West League's finding that we were in breach of regulations, having advised Sedgley Park we intended to concede a cup game scheduled for March 16th.
However, they felt that the sanctions previously imposed upon us were excessive and disproportionate.
Therefore theses sanctions have been significantly reduced and as a result our 2nds and 3rds will not be excluded from their respective leagues. The 2nds, however, will not be allowed to take any further part in this season's cup competition.
This is undoubtedly a satisfactory and common sense outcome for our club, and we would like to acknowledge the objective and considered approach by the panel throughout the hearing, and as reflected in the outcome.
I'd like to express my personal thanks to Dave Craven, Peter Rhodes and our solicitor Phil Bramhall, who presented our case to the panel very effectively.
However, special thanks must go to Steve Bate, who worked tirelessly throughout the entire process to ensure we had the very best chance of achieving a successful conclusion.
The panel's full report will be posted on the RFU website within the next few days.
