Three tries, 12 conversions, 39 points and an interesting trip home for Tom Bryan as Chew Valley destroy their under prepared visitors from Cornwall"

Chew Valley 89 St Ives (SW) 14
Chew Valley wouldn't have learned much from their introduction to Sourh West 1 rugby in their demolition of an undercooked St Ives side on the wrong end of a 4 hour coach trip
The first half was even with Chew Valley on top in the scrums but faltering at the lineout but for three moments of brilliance from fullback Tom Bryan with three tries out of nothing in 28 minutes including a tap and go from his own 5 metre line and try under the posts ( what a difference a decent pre season makes!)
The Hakes were still in the game with a try off a driving maul on 28 minutes from prop Ben Taylor converted by outside half James Tucker. Winger Joe Webb showed great strength for the bonus point try and Man of the match Charles Shallcross crossed on the stroke of half time. The second half was something of a procession as debutant player coach Dean Booker scored with three minutes of the half gone. Despite losing outside half Dan Gatton to the bin for a disputed deliberate knock on, Chew Valley kept up the pressure and after a five metre scrum and three rucks second row Ross Elliott, 26 years with the club man and boy grabbed a try. The visitors grabbed a try on 55 minutes out wide through winger Joel Bick as Chew Valley switched off having conceded yet another penalty. After that it was one way traffic as the hosts turned the screw. Tries from, Shallcross, Joe Webb on the wing (2) debutant replacement winger Steve Bartlett, centre Reece Carter and one from skipper Alex Cox at 8 . Tom Bryan only missed one conversion but his day was slightly marred by smashing the windscreen of his pregnant wife's car with the only attempt he missed !
