Sidmouth 29 Chew Valley 7
The Chew Valley travelling support bolstered by the 2nds and 3rds rerouted following their games being called off had to endure possibly the worst first half performance seen for several seasons. Sidmouth playing up the slope dictated affairs for the first 40 as the visitors conspired to find new ways to gift possession. With the Sidmouth pack particularly effective close to the line scores on the 4th and 18th minutes from man of the match prop Franck Friconnet both converted by outside half Dan Retter and with Retter adding a try of his own and the conversion on the half hour the damage was done.
Chew Valley were marginaly better in the second half and managed to string together some phases on the the second half but basic errors gave Sidmouth easy outs.
On the hour skipper Alex Cox crossed after a series of rucks converted by Zac Kavanagh at fullback but any hopes of a revival were snuffed out as Rutter kicked a penalty and injuries disrupted the visitors. The bonus point try came close to the end in gathering gloom. Friconnet swatted away three tackles to cross the line only to avoid the hat trick beer try by gifting second row Ollie Pyne the score.
