We visited Chippenham for the second round of the cup, the match being played on the host's new 4G pitch. The pendulum swung one way then the other in a tight contest. Chippenham applied considerable pressure in the early stages spending a lot of the first period camped in Chew territory, but Chew defended stoutly, eventually conceding the first score following missed tackles. Nevertheless, Chew bounced back to be 7 v 10 down at the interval. The sides traded scores in the second half and Chew's spirit got them in the lead at 19 v 17 with minutes to go. As the clock ran down, Chew lost their line out on their five metre line and Chippenham drive over powerfully with the final play of the match to snatch victory and passage to the next round. Unfortunately, Auz Hazzard broke his wrist in the closing stages and will be out for a number of weeks - we all wish Auz a speedy recovery and return to the team.
