After all the hard work and extra training, today it all come together and to a man this was a team performance.........

On a lovely autumn morning the Chew troops arrived at the home ground ready for battle against a Stotherton Pitt side. After a week off and several school games in between, the boys arrived in good spirits. Team work and togetherness was emphasised and what happened next was a testament to them all.
The game started strong for Chew and there was a belief of we can do this from the off. Danny Ridding kicking beautifully, Ben Mead’s decision making decisive and Fraser Thomas at full back showing hands as soft as an Andrex Roll straight from the factory. They built pressure well and soon after winning a scrum against the head on Stotherton’s 22, they were 5-0 up as Jackson Bryant Stormed over as well worked team pressure and belief came to fruit. As the home support was basking in the performance we blinked and Louis Bowcock Grace (Chews new Usain Bolt) realised that if he opened his legs that he really could run fast as he also powered through for Chews second try. Before the half time whistle could be blown Danny Ridding kicked a Penalty to make the half time score 13-0.
The second half started and Stotherton had the grit between their teeth. Joe O’Sullivan and George Bazley were everywhere in defending and clearing up Henry Tovey was leading by example defence was the name of the game and the boys from the Valley dug deep even holding up one of Stotherton's attempts on the line. But the Stotherton pressure proved too strong as the lead was cut to 13-7 and then 13-14.
It was four minutes to go and the coaches were preparing their speeches of how the boys had done well and we should have won and how an arm round a shoulder was going to be required, when the spirit of the boys came through. An excellent kick from Ridding put Chew in Stotherton’s 22 and what happened next was epic. Line out Stotherton, Chew win the lineout thanks to Joe Moss, who finds Mead, who finds Bryant, who finds Bazley who finds Ridding who finds touch Tryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to make it 18-14.
With seconds left on the clock the restart took place and a nervous chew team treat the ball like a meteor falling from the sky, Stotherton storm through to collect the ball but thankfully knock on and Elliot Matthews collects the ball and pumps it into touch allowing the Ref to blow the whistle, which Confirmed a fantastic victory for Chew Valley.
To a man all 18 players played to their potential or played their part which left ever coach and parent proud of them, the Stotherton Supporters agreed with the outcome and were full of praise for the Chew team. No Man of the Match this week as it was a solid, together team effort. Well Done Boys and Thank you for your efforts.
