The U12s ventured to Haselmere RFC following an invitation from the hosts for a friendly fixture last Sunday.

With a few of the CRFC U12 regular players unavailable it was a repeat opportunity to give other squad members an opportunity to play in a competitive match, this being ref'd by the Haselmere lead coach; which was appreciated by the CRFC coaching team.

First try to Chichester from a quick tap taken from a penalty against Haslemere, which was ably received by Jaiden Cloke to score over the line (0-1). An earlier try to Chi was not awarded but was sighted to have been a scored by Archie Ross - well done, but unlucky! The Haselmere pressure on the Chi line felt relentless, but, with a very strong defence Chi stopped Haselmere's efforts, with Hudson Page seizing a knock-on opportunity arising from strong Chi tackling to kick the ball deep into the Haselmere half, with Jonah Hutchings gathering the ball at pace and to then putting Frankie Dallaway into space to score in the opposite corner (0-2).
Haselmere seized on an opportunity to spread the ball wide, whilst Chi where defending the relentless middle field runs, enabling the ball to spread wide to their winger to score (1-2). With Haslemere enthused by their score their intensity increased, but, this being ably matched by Chi, with Archie Coughtry leading by example by holding a Haslemere player up over the Chi line, then 2, then 3 & then with Chi support drove Haslemere backwards - a try saving effort by Archie!
With young legs tiring after a very fast match, Chi managed to keep the ball to hand and in the dying moments of the game moved the ball wide, whilst penetrating the Haslemere defence line, where Jaiden Cloke creatively managed to get across the line to score again. (1-3).

Player of the day: Archie Coughtrey

Lots to work on still and this will be taken into training sessions going forward.
Thanks to all those who turned up on time and those who assist on the day, much appreciated.
