Colts score 7 again

For the second Sunday in succession Chichester Colts run in 7 tries.

Chichester Colts made the short trip to rivals Bognor, without their County call-ups Hudson and Taylor, but were still far too strong for their opponents.
Immediately on the front foot Chichester pressed Bognor back and forced a couple of early penalties. Moss kicked for the corner, Fitzmaurice took the line out cleanly and the ball was driven to the line with Hockey in possession at the back of the maul. Just as it seemed they were sure to crash over Stirrup whipped the ball to Grace who put in fellow center Selwood who continued his recent scoring streak. Moss converted 7-0.
At the next line out on the opposite flank Scott caught cleanly and fed the ball to Deavall who raced up the short side and touched down in the corner.
Bognor tried to get a foothold in the game with their forwards working hard in the rucks but the line speed of Chichester's backs meant that Bognor's 10, 12 and 13 were always under pressure. Indeed a pass was cleverly intercepted by Constable who raced up the pitch but did not quite have the gas to go all the way and was hauled down in the 22.
A good kick from Moss and chase by Gallimore caused panic in the Bognor defence. Ash seized on a loose ball and there was no stopping him as he rampaged over from 10m out.
The final score of the half came from last week's hat trick hero Bysouth. Following a swift passing movement involving the entire back line he beat his wing and full back to score in the corner. Moss added the extras from out wide and Chichester led 24-0 at half time.
Whilst there had been some good play in the first half the coaches were looking for more structure and phased play in the second as preparation for next weeks tough league game at Horsham.
The players responded and stepped up their game. Constable had some good carries from 8 and Grace was bringing the full back into the game with some nice passes. One such move saw Hutchin from 15 burst through a gap and jink to the line to score.
After a some powerful running from the forwards with Rugman carrying deep to the Bognor line the ball was thrown wide and Sellwood straightened the line and side stepped the defence to score his second try of the afternoon.
The final try came from another swift passing move with Hutchin out wide receiving the ball just inside the Bognor half and outpacing the defence to run in under the posts. Conversion by Moss, final score 43-0.
All in all a pretty good performance. Particularly pleasing was the defensive effort which meant a second clean sheet in two weeks and an aggregate score of 89-0 for the last two games.
