After a perfect 5 out of 5 group stage wins, including a 3-1 win against Final opponents Barnham Red, Chichester City U9 Green started a slight favourite in this final.

The team in Green reached the final after a tough 2-1 win against Lancing Blue in the Semi Final and 2 goals from Teo.

Skipper for the day Archie introduced the team at the start of the match and he had an exemplary game at the back. Bayley made 2 good saves as Barnham counter attacked the early Green pressure.

However, it was Barnham who took an early lead as the Greens battled into the wind during the first half. Teo hit the post and Freddie was a constant threat along with Kobie, but the greens weren’t at their fluent best. Noah, George and Ethan were sent on and all made a positive impact on the match.

At half time the message was clear – no need to panic, there is plenty of time left! Sam went close with a strike in the early stages of the second half, but it was Flynn who eventually made the breakthrough.

As we closed into the final few minutes of the match it was all Green pressure and Flynn scored his second of the match which turned out to be the winner!

The team then saw the match out for a victory in this prestigious cup!
