Chichester City found their form on Sunday after a long journey to one of the league favourites. Ipswich were relegated from the National South League last Season and have seen an injection of support from the men’s section of the club with the strict instructions to get them promote.
Off the back of two defeats Chichester City Ladies needed something special to win this one and that came in the form of four goals from Abbey Shrubb. Ipswich certainly dominated the early exchanges and could have gone in front whilst Chichester struggled to string together any sort of possession. As the first half progressed the game started to level out but Ipswich continued to press and went one up.
Shrubb then found her form and smashed in two quick goals before half time. Chi Ladies pulled together and took control in the second half mainly through woman of the match Madden controlling the middle of the park. A further two goals from Shrubb, including a sensational 30 yard set piece sent the Lillywhites to victory. Ipswich continued to battle and earned a late consolation in the form of a penalty.
Next week Chichester Ladies face league leaders Chesham @ Oaklands Park @ 1400hrs (£2 entry, refreshments available).
