Chichester travelled to second place Enfield on Sunday knowing a victory would send see them go above the home side, the Lilywhites did not disappoint notching up a 2-0 victory. The game started slowly with Enfield dominating early possession the home sides strikers exploiting the vast space left between the Chichester midfield and defence.
Chichester dug in and soon sprung the Enfield off side trap, with the keeper routed to the line Shrubb didn't need to be asked twice and smashed the ball home against the run of play. Chichester found their stride with Willett and Widdowson winning the battle in the middle of the park. Just before the half Shrubb got in behind the back line again and slotted home to put the Lilywhites 2-0 up.
The second half saw Chichester get the ball under control and have several chances to further their lead. Enfield pushed hard in the late stages of the match but McNamara kept them out with two outstanding saves.
Next week Chichester face Rottingdean @ home @ 1400hrs in the first round of the Sussex Cup.
