Chichester got off to a shaky start and struggled to gain possession of the ball as Panthers quickly took control of the game. The majority of play from both sides was scrappy with the ball barely on the ground, and Chichester found it difficult to put their foot on the ball and play their usual football. With Panthers taking charge of the game, Chichester's back line felt the pressure and battled hard to deny the chance for the opposition to get a break on goal. With the centre of the park overloaded by the opposition, Steph Madden and Annie Richardson had their work cut out for them as they continued to make fantastic tackles and slow down the play. After a few bad decisions from the ref, Chi eventually got back into the game equalising the level of play. This helped to see Chi have a few shots on goal before half time came.
Second half kicked off and both teams worked hard to score the opening goal. It was clear that Panthers were starting to tire, as Chichester began to dominate the play and made some fantastic balls over the top to the strikers. A fantastic ball from Kirsty Willett allowed Abbey Shrubb to outpace the oppositions defenders and comfortably lob the keeper, scoring the first goal of the game. Now in the lead, Chichester continued to play their football and created several more chances on goal with Megan Thompson hitting the ball just wide of the goal. Georgina Starkey had a superb game on the wing and made a number of brilliant crosses into the box. Her hard work was soon rewarded when she made a run through several of Panthers defence to then score a great goal bringing the score to 2-0. Two subs were then made bringing on the likes of Hollie Wride and Lucie Challen. A fresh pair of legs bought an increase in the tempo of play as Chi piled on the pressure for Panthers, with some brilliant passing and moving from the back line. The game finally ended and Chichester managed yet another win. Bring on next weeks match and lets see if we can do it again!
