Chichester with another comfortable win!!

Chichester got off to a slow start and were unable to keep the ball on the ground, as Maidstone dominated the majority of possession and took control of the game. Through a lack of concentration and a lucky break through City's defenders, Maidstone strikers managed to put away an early goal in the opening 3 minutes of the game. Unable to put their foot on the ball, and play their usual football, Chichester's heads started to drop until a free kick was given just outside the 18 yard box, for Zoe Hughes-Jones to score a superb goal lobbing the oppositions keeper. With an equalising goal, Chi's game began to change as they upped their tempo, and started to pass the ball around. The immediate change in their performance paid off soon enough when Lucie Challen scored a fantastic goal with her left foot in the 31st minute of the game putting the score line at 2-1. With Chichester now in the lead, central midfielders Annie Richardson and Kirsty Willett continued to battle and work hard through till half time denying Maidstone any more chances on goal.
As the second half kicked off Chi took charge of the game and made it difficult for Maidstone to win back possession of the ball. An outstanding performance from Megan Thompson caused several problems for the oppositions defenders as she created several chances on goal and often provided opportunities for others. With solid defending from the back line and good communications with the keeper Hannah McNamara, Chichester were able to keep their cool under pressure as Maidstone changed their formation to be more attacking. With the substitution of Challen for Abbey Shrubb, the dynamic of the game changed, with Shrubb effortlessly scoring two fantastic goals with the support of the midfield. Chi finished the game on a high after relentlessly putting the pressure on Maidstone forcing them to make mistakes and seeing Chi with a comfortable win at 4-1. Another great performance, lets hope we can do it again next week!!
