Chichester City ladies ladies looked to continue their impressive start to the season when they welcomed newly promoted Swindon Spitfires to Oaklands park on Sunday. The Green army had a 100% record in league and cup going into the game and with the visitors having lost all of their games Chichester knew they couldn't afford any slip ups in a game that on paper they should win.
The home side started much the brighter team, creating chances almost at will but a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping meant they had to wait until the quarter of an hour mark until they opened the scoring. When they did it can through a tap into an empty net for Kally Ambler after some good build up play. The Green army were then made to wait until the just before half time before getting their second, another tap in, this time for Widdows extending her scoring streak. At the break the teams left the field with Chichester two goals to the good.
Chichester flew out of the blocks in the second half scoring almost immediately as Ambler broke clear of the defence and rifled her shot into the net. It didn't take long for her to complete her hat trick as a lofted effort from the right hand side beat the goalkeeper and the linesman decided it crossed the line.
Shannon Albuery was introduced for Amy Found and scored with her first touch, arriving into the box and firing her effort into the goal after a cross from the right. Chichester were now in total dominance and were creating chances to score from every attack. Jade Widdows got her second of the game and fourth of the season as she arrived at the back post to tap in to an empty net. Tammy Waine then completed the scoring with a cool finish from inside the area.
Chichester ended the game as 7-0 victors maintaining their good start to the season. The ladies are away this weekend as they visit St. Nicholas ladies on Sunday.
