I am writing to update you on our plans to reopen our facilities and restart sporting activities at Allington Fields.

Dear Members,

I am writing to update you on our plans to reopen our facilities and restart sporting activities at Allington Fields.

As you are aware, the club’s policy throughout the pandemic has been to follow guidance from the Government & RFU and we will continue to do so to ensure the safety of our staff, members and visitors as we reopen our facilities.

We share the excitement and enthusiasm shown across all sections of the club as we get closer to a return to playing sport and it is the club’s ambition to reopen our facilities as soon as Government and RFU guidance allows. The Government set out a roadmap to leaving lockdown last week but we have yet to receive formal guidance from the RFU, although that is expected to be issued by the end of this week.

We have been working hard on our reopening plans for some time and, over the next few weeks, we will be fine tuning the plans to ensure that we are fully compliant with the latest Government and RFU guidance. The club’s Rugby Forum, which is a group of representatives from each section of the club, has also been meeting regularly online during lockdown to ensure that each section and age group will be ready to restart rugby activity as soon as we are allowed.

The club’s Board has set out a timetable for key actions to be taken to ensure we can reopen safely and in compliance with the new rules. The key dates are shown below but, naturally, these dates may alter should Government or RFU guidance change. As you will see, if all goes to plan, we intend to send a further communication to members on March 19th which will confirm the date on which the club’s grounds will reopen.

Key Dates:

5th March – Anticipated update from the RFU.

9th March – Rugby forum to meet to finalise Chippenham RFC’s ‘Return to Rugby’ plans based on the latest RFU guideance.

16th March – CRFC Board meeting to discuss and agree the ‘Return to Rugby’ plan and the reopening date of the club.

19th March – Club communication sent to members to confirm reopening date and guidelines to be followed when onsite.

29th March – Anticipated reopening of the club’s grounds, AGP and the return of sporting activities at the club.

12th April – Anticipated date for the Clubhouse to reopen, outside service and Rule of 6 applies.

Thank you for your continued patience and support over recent months which has been genuinely appreciated. Hopefully, the end of lockdown is now in sight so we can all look forward to spending time enjoying the simple pleasure of being outdoors and playing or watching sport at Allington Fields.

Regards,

Ian Banister

Chairman
Chippenham RFC
