It is with great sadness that we found out that Brian Williams lost his long battle with cancer and passed away on Tuesday 4th December. We would like to pass on our condolences to Jan and the family.

Brian first started playing for Chippenham Rugby Club way back in the late 1950s around about the 1957-1958 season when he would play for the school in the morning and then for the club in the afternoon. Brian continued playing for the club right through to the late 1970s, playing mainly at wing forward where he was known to be a fearless tackler. He is seen with his team mates in the attached picture, back row and 2nd from the left.

In latter years Brian has been part of the group of venerable gentlemen who would meet up the club on Saturday afternoon’s throughout the year not just during the season, who would enjoy a few drinks together. I know that Brian will be sorely missed by not only them but by all that had the pleasure to know and play rugby with him for Chippenham RFC.

The funeral for Brian will be held on Thursday 20th December at 4:00 pm at Semington Crematorium and then afterwards to the Somerset Arms in Semington.

Regards,
Stuart Murrow
President - Chippenham RFC
