Chippenham RFC dominate over Bradford on Avon in D&W fixture

After success in the first D&W match at Salisbury last week, Chippenham faced Bradford on Avon in the second D&W fixture. After a close encounter at the end of last season there was an expectation of a tight game, but unlike in previous fixtures, Chippenham were quick out of the blocks with an early try by Ethan B following some dominant forward play. After this the back line clicked into gear with Sam next on the board following a lovely dummy pass that left the BoA defence stranded. Next on the scoreboard was Freddie C, breaking through in the midfield, swiftly followed by Freddie H who showed his normal determination in bursting through the BoA defence.

After a brief pause in the scoring, it was the turn of the backs again, with Will scoring after the ball passed through plenty of hands following a turnover in the ruck. Ollie B was next on the board followed by probably the try of the match by Ethan M – who received a kick at full back and burst through the BoA defence for a solo try. Will then added a further try to his tally which then brought the competitive game to an end (40-0). The second half turned into a friendly with Chippenham scoring a further four tries and BoA getting on the scoreboard a couple of times.

Overall it was a dominant performance by Chippenham who were showing the benefit of the Friday night training. It was also really pleasing to see the support from some members of the squad who were not picked for the game or were injured. Well done Thomas, Dennis and Dom for coming to support your team.

Next week we head to Trowbridge for a friendly. It will be good to see some players who haven’t had a chance to get much match experience get some game time.
