Chippenham V’s Trowbridge

Hi, it's Digby. Here is my match report for Chippenham vs Trowbridge.

It was a cold, foggy morning and we were travelling away to Trowbridge. I hadn’t been there before and they had quite impressive facilities. They were nice enough to let us use a changing room and as soon as we were ready we walked over to the pitch with lots of determination to win. We started with a much more intense warm-up than our opposition did and after soon we had kicked off. We started the game on the front foot despite not rucking as well as we could have. As the game progressed, we started rucking better, supporting each other off the ball, playing with more structure and the tries started to come.

Throughout the final couple of quarters, we began a bad habit of knocking the ball on, and our attacking structure could have been better. Despite this, we still managed to score many tries outside. Fots had a great game against his former team and was a strong contender for man of the match, as did Will, Milo, Josh, Charlie just to name a few. In this strong list of names, Austin ended up getting man of the match after an incredible performance where he scored a few tries, rucked very well and ran hard at the opposition. We have one or two things to improve on going into our next few games but, overall, a great performance from Chippenham and hopefully we can keep up this form into the cup games in a few weeks time. Trowbridge put in a spirited performance and we thank them for being our opposition.
