Captains Reports
1st XI Captain –Jim
First team are in a very healthy position. We need to continue to be more inclusive to make sure all see Chipping Norton as their club. First team had a good season, we are a great club to play for and we are doing the right things. We have the best ground in the county with other good facilities. The team is improving all the time and there are good links to youth who are coming through. Structurally things are being put in place. Standards are being raised, needs to continue. There is a great nucleus of local players. Long may this progression continue.

2nd XI Captain – Matt for Slamat
Team did well and reached final of the competition. The team is a great mixture of experience and youth. Laurie, Joe, Jake have all established themselves as regular players in the second team. There are more youth players that could come through next year and that is very promising. Jonty also played well in midweek matches.

Treasurer’s Report
Martin reported on the accounts’ details for 2020

Income was boosted by a gratefully received grant of from West Oxfordshire District Council to help with the losses caused by the pandemic. The club also received a very generous grant from Chipping Norton Town Council towards grounds equipment. Subs for the season were lower due to the delayed start to the season and a large amount of youth subs will be carried forward to the new season. Thanks to Ian for encouraging a take up on the lottery subs. Also, there was a reimbursement from Southern Electric.

Expenditure was pretty much a standard list. Thanks to Mick a replacement grass mower was purchased at a very low cost. Thanks also to Rob for providing a second container. The club also purchased a replacement bottle cooler.

The club is in a healthy position going forward and a number of ideas on spending will be carried forward to the first meeting of the season. It was noted that the subs for youth will again be affected by the pandemic and the carry forward from last season. There is also a need for repairs and maintenance to the clubhouse main lounge which will cost.

Talks are still ongoing with Bloor for fees relating to use of the car park.

The accounts were adopted.

Secretary’s Report
The club are in a fortunate position in having a large number of volunteers who do a great job in the running of the club. A big thank you to all, especially during these difficult times. This year we have had the extra concern of the homes being built and thanks to IW for his work on negotiating with Bloor. The nets that have been put in place are as good as we could have hoped for and the deal in place will mean the club are not disadvantaged in the future.
Agree with Jim that we have a great ground, thanks to Mick, and great facilities. The youth excellently led by Sue is improving each year. Well done to everyone on getting the club cricket ready last year. Both teams did well and congratulations to the seconds for reaching the final. It was also good to see a number of youth games being played.
Going forward we have a new challenge of starting our first season in the Cherwell League. This is an important step forward for the club and the recent success sees the firsts start in Division 4. The seconds will begin in division 8.
Sadly, we lost John and Lyn and as a club we will look to see how we can have lasting memorials to their memory.
Youth Report
After an excellent Registration Day, we looked in fine form for a good season and having to close U9 and U11 age groups due to numbers, then Covid-19 came along and everything stopped.
After a number of weeks and the restrictions tightening, we decided that members would be given the option of rolling their membership over to 2021 or being refunded. This did not apply to those players able to take up the limited practise we were allowed to reopen in the U13 and above ages. A few members took the refund.
Thank you to those who were able to let their membership roll over to 2021.
Matt took up the 1 x Coach to 6 players with strict guidelines to follow with individual numbered balls for each player—which hopefully we still have only losing one in the process I believe.
No pavilion usage at this time so no income from the kitchen.
By August rules had been relaxed a little and we were able to offer U11’s and up for Friday evening again on a strict numbers basis which quickly filled up and ran till school restarted.
We were unable to restart anything under age 11’s due to Covid restrictions and coaching numbers and space.
The County put out a number of league games which we struggled to fulfil due to late arrangements and fear of the virus but the U13’s and U15’s had a couple of games each. We just weren’t strong enough against those teams we did play like Rissington etc. But it was all done under covid restrictions and in the spirit of getting games in and staying as safe as possible.
Several of the older youth players like Jake, Laurie, Joe, and Frank practised and played for the Club Second Eleven which is where we hope they will also play in 2021 whilst still supporting their age groups within the club.
Jake was awarded the Clubs Anthony Powell Young Player of the Year Award with unanimous coaches’ approval. It was the only award given by the youth this year.
Finally a huge thank you to Matt , Jim and Dan for coaching when it was possible ably helped by David. Thanks also to all the parents that helped out and we need them more than ever this coming season as I am trying to step back on a Friday.
A Welfare Officer is a must and a priority for the club this year.

• New personalised Chipping Norton cricket stumps will be ordered
• The bowling machine needs repairing
• Chipping Norton Town Council are considering a bigger sports award and the club were happy to agree to hosting
• There is a need to check on subs that need paying to the Cherwell League
• Nets will be cancelled this year
• The club will host Cardiff on 5th September
• Chipping Norton have been invited to the Gordon Taylor Cup at Great Tew
• Cherwell League have asked if clubs want to play in a cup competition and the members decided to decline this offer
• Advertising in the Chipping Norton Advertiser was discussed
• The question of working towards Clubmark was discussed, but it remains difficult until we can find a volunteer to support this full time
• There is a need to check the rules on umpires for the coming season. Gary has volunteered to umpire for Chipping Norton and will be asked if he would also like to be a committee member
• AGM next year will be first Monday in December 2021
• The club will send their sympathy and thoughts to Oxford Downs following the recent death of Roger Berryman
• Finally, we were joined by Ben who now plays for an overseas cricket club. Ben asked if the club would be interested in a partnership with his club. There would be the opportunity for closer ties, chances for players to play and coach for the other club. Hopefully some fun earlier on-line. The club thought this was a great idea and voted unanimously to move forward with this partnership. Thanks to Ben for the great offer
