The North Midland Falcons played their second league match against Clondalkin Ladies on Sunday last, the 8th of October.
It was a very tough, physical encounter keenly contested. It was a difficult match to referee and the referee had difficulty managing the game at times. The Falcons had previously met the Clondalkin ladies in a friendly with some of their key players missing. Clondalkin won convincingly on this occasion and probably felt very confident coming to Portarlington for the second encounter. The Falcons rose to the occasion with great gusto, determination and physicality and despite two fine penalty kicks from the Clondalkin number 10, Áoife Murphy and Orlaith Smith secured the victory for the NMF with two excellent tries. The Clondalkin attack was very strong but they were kept at bay by the Falcons sterling defence which proved decisive in the end. Despite the competitive nature of the match the score finished in good sporting fashion with both teams accepting the result which was 10-6 in favour of the North Midland Falcons.
The next fixture for the Falcons is away to Kilkenny on Sunday 15th of October.
