Match Report - City of Manchester Women's 1 vs Chester Women's 2 - Final Score: Chester 4 – 1 City of Manchester

What do you get when you mix torrential rain, gale-force winds, and a visiting side who score goals for fun?

One wild afternoon of hockey, that’s what!

Chester came out of the blocks like a team possessed — slotting one home within the first minute before anyone had even warmed up, if there was to be any chance of physically warming up in Amy’s presence.

Despite the storm (literally), City held firm. Their defence, though stretched and with forwards and midfield players stepping in to vacant defensive positions, remained resolute, with players stepping up to even the flow of play. Chester managed to sneak in two more goals before half-time, and a further goal from a penalty stroke in the second half (we’ll say no more ?).

But City weren’t done yet. Refusing to let the weather — or the scoreline — dampen their spirit, they pushed right to the final whistle. In the dying minutes, a perfectly worked penalty corner was smashed across the goal face with power and tapped in on the right post for the finish! ⚡️

Sure, the scoreboard said 4–1 to Chester… but everyone knows it’s last goal wins, right? Which means City of Manchester walk away spiritually victorious ??

A gritty, gutsy performance in biblical weather — with plenty of heart, humour, and a well-earned goal to cap it all off.
