City 2s lose at home against Winchester
By David Johns
City of Portsmouth 2s were unable to overcome fifth placed Winchester, as they suffered a frustrating 4-3 home defeat.
City 2’s were quick to draw first blood through Daniel Brettell with a driven shot off the backboard. Soon after, City scored a second after Brettell's reverse fizzed past the keeper at his left post.
Not to be outdone, Winchester pulled a goal back making the score 2-1, and before City could blink, Winchester had levelled the score after Christian Bear’s clearance found a loose man who capitalised.
Brettell sealed a first half hat-trick putting City 3-2 ahead at half-time.
City took their foot off the gas in the second half, and Winchester took full advantage, scoring a third and eventually a fourth after a calamitous clearance from Dave White which somehow went backwards, and towards a waiting forward who converted to seal a 4-3 win for the visitors.
Man of the match was awarded to Elliot Ghent.
