Setting the tone…. Early…

Dull overcast; light breeze; sticky underfoot…..

Yellow card in the first 5 minutes set the refereeing tone for the game…

Pressure on from the word go, with the scrummage holding up well, good defensive sets ensured we did not leak any points during the first yellow…. Twenty minutes in 0-0. We were competitive, but 2 quick scores; followed by a subsequent yellow and score.

The half in a snapshot – we played most of the time in our own half, rarely getting out, defensively very good, gave away too many penalties, Wimbledon were able to subdue any attacking threat….

HT 0-19

2nd half saw us with more of the ball playing, with good structure, defensive shape, and chase… in the opposition half; with good energy and focus… we pressured their lines but missed that piece of luck which would have put us over.

A sequence of substitutions brought about a reduction in stability in the scrum, but no decline in effort... before going to uncontested scrums and down to 14 men…. Passion boiled over with the team fronting up in the final minutes …. Ending the game with a final yellow and 13 men…

FT 0-40
