Clanfield 85 secured three Division One West points from the visit of Shrivenham but the Visitors may well regret an inability to convert the chances created. The season almost got off to a dramatic start when the ball was whistled just over the Clanfield crossbar after just two minutes. Both sides worked hard to create chances but neither goalkeeper was really troubled until Zac Oliver sent a scorching shot just wide of the visiting goal. Both defences stood firm to leave the first half goal-less.

A slight change in the system saw the Home side look much more threatening but it was the Visitors who created two excellent openings which they failed to convert. They were made to pay on 75 minutes when good work down the left saw youngster Zac Oliver work an opening to blast the ball home. The lead was doubled on 80 minutes when a foul on the edge of the penalty area which cost a visiting defender a yellow card saw debutant Joey Hiscock beat the keeper with a well struck free kick.The Robins then safely saw out the remaining minutes with no further alarms to secure a hard earned win.
