Milton Utd 0 v 3 Clanfield

Three goals, Jozef Fullerton (2) and Callum Miller, saw Clanfield cruise through to the Second Qualifying Round of this seasons Buildbase FA Vase at Milton United on Saturday.

After an even opening period on a perfect playing surface at the Heights, it was Dan Gardner who created the Robins first opening when testing home keeper Craig Griffiths with a twenty-yard effort on goal.

On twenty-eight minutes, Clanfield full back Ryan Moore again tested the home defence with another effort from distance when receiving a wide pass from Nathan Kimber. On thirty-seven minutes, the visitors almost snatched the lead when centre back Matt Knapton headed a Gardner free kick against the home crossbar with the Milton goalkeeper completely beaten. Three minutes later Clanfield did make the breakthrough when Jozef Fullerton running on to a through ball drew Griffiths before calmly firing home to send the Robins in at half time one goal to the good.

With the second period barely sixty seconds old the away side doubled their lead when Fullerton struck again when slotting home at the near post.

Ironically from this point the home side played their best football of the tie and enjoyed more than their fair share of procession in an attempt at finding a way back into the game, however with the reliable James Domm in fine form and his back four of Jack Robinson, Matt Knapton, Josh Gibbens and Ryan Moore all dominant, Milton hardly ever looked likely of a route back into the fixture and their fate was sealed when Callum Miller turned a low cross past the stranded home goalkeeper in the eighty ninth minute to complete a satisfying performance from Clanfield earning them a home tie in the next round against Buckingham Athletic on 15th September.
