First win of the season

The U18 Allied Counties team won their first fixture of this season on 14 September against Thame.

The match was played last night on 14 September and Thame would prove to be a difficult fist fixture this season, after two losses to Thame last season.

The team were forced to make a substitution before the game started with Harvey Savin being told he couldn't play with a cast on his wrist which was broken in a pre-season friendly. The match started well for Clanfield with a goal after seven minutes from Finlay Heritage, but from then on it was not a great spectacle for the football purists and despite several more chances to score in the first half the half finished at 1-0 to Clanfield.

The second half wasn't much better fare for the purists, but despite this Clanfield scored a second goal on the hour mark. There was a lot of huffing and puffing from both sides in the second half but there was only one real save that the Clanfield keeper, Andy Hunt had to make in the whole game which came from a free kick late in the second half.

Clanfield will have to improve for the Youth Vase match next Thursday, but hopefully they can overcome the match rustiness and rise to the challenge to progress in the Vase competition, in the same manner as the County Cup last season.
