2. FAQ - Subs & Membership

Frequently Asked Questions Subscription Fees & Membership

I set up a Direct Debit last season via the website and it’s showing in my direct debits in my Online banking why hasn’t it come out this season?
The payments system is done through the website, so all automated and was all handled by ‘go-cardless’ which is integrated into website system. The cardless means it’s all done via direct debits rather than any debit or credit cards. However from 2019/20 season payments will be done using 'Stripe' which will be a debit card system.

Some payments were set up as a one off direct debit payment rather than recurring payments annually for a number of reasons this includes:
players leaving the club from one season to the next.
Parents wishing to change from paying full season to half season
Or vice a versa.
We felt it was easier to request from parents when it’s due so they can budget accordingly rather than just have it scheduled to be paid on a certain date, when it may not suit everyone if it was taken before payday or when things are tight during/after the summer holidays.

Last seasons DD will sit dormant at your bank as we don’t instruct it to be a recurring payment as listed above or you can cancel last seasons and this will have no effect at all on this seasons.

Do I need to set up a new direct debit this season?
If Go cardless is the payment option then yes you will need to complete a new one for this season (you can cancel last seasons from your online banking, it will remain dormant if you leave it there so no additional fees will be taken)

I set up a direct debit at start of the season for half season subs, do you have to set up another one for the second term?
Yes if payment option is go cardless, you will need to complete website payment again in January.
The reason for this is we felt it easier to request from payment when it’s due so you can budget accordingly rather than just have it scheduled to be paid on a certain date, when it may not suit everyone if it was taken before payday or when things are tight after Christmas/new year period. If payment provider is stripe then it will come out automatically.

Why does it say I will be charged per MONTH?
As we use Stripe billing which is an integrated payment platform the wording isnt the greatest for the product we have created. Stripe have a template which we are unable to amend at present so you will not be charged per month, it is just for a one off fee. The Membership payment is classed by Stripe as 'a trial'

I made half & half / Split payment by stripe - why has it taken membership and subs at the same time?
The system maybe set up to take membership fee at time of completing payment and the first term subs on 05th August. If you have paid fees on 05th August of after then the membership fee and the first term subs will be taken at same time. The payment for term 2 will automatically be requested 5 months on from the August payment so if you paid on the 5th August it will withdraw on the 5th January, subject to it being a working day.

My Payment hasnt gone through, how do I change card details or pay without paying the membership fee again.
You should get an automated email from stripe (check junk/spam) with details on how to do this and clicking link in the email If you do not receive this or the amount is incorrect please email help@clarendonjuniorsfc.co.uk and we will send you a link that should show the correct amount

How to I know I have fees to pay?
If you log into your account there should be a notification if you have payment due

What do membership and subs payments pay for?
A little bit of everything! To run a football club is not cheap – affiliation fees, league entry, pitch hire, referee fees, playing kit, equipment and footballs are just some of the costs which help the club to run. The trophies for our club end of season awards are also an expense. We also appreciate any donations or sponsorship as this contributes to us being able to afford new kits and equipment.

b]If my child leaves the club, can I get a refund?[/b]
No, however this will be at the discretion of the club. You must notify the club in writing via email or letter that you are leaving the club and the club *may* refund the subscriptions or part of the subs depending on a number of factors (reason for leaving, outstanding payments/fines due, how far through the season).
The membership fee will NOT be refunded.

Why are subs lower than other clubs?
We have always tried to keep costs ‘affordable for all’. We budget every season and adjust subs accordingly. The café has provided extra funds and as a result has allowed us to retain subs fees the same for a number of seasons. Without the café income it is likely the subs would rise to cover the running costs of the club.

Why do we have to pay for midweek training & tournaments?
Not all teams train midweek at different locations so we choose not to include this is the membership and subs fees. The venues teams use for midweek training demand hire fees so we look to cover these hire fees on a pay as you play basis. Likewise with summer tournaments as this is between seasons, we ask the entry fees to the tournaments are covered on a ‘pay to play’ basis. When we start training at Barry's Fields under floodlights then there will be a flat cost per session across the age groups and longer term we may look at including that into the membership & subs fees

We have paid membership & subs, but my child is not playing in matches?
Subs fees do not guarantee match selection, the team managers will be responsible for selection of members based on attendance, behaviour and development level. Our membership rules in our club handbook also state that Membership of Clarendon Juniors Football Club entitles players to
- Attend weekly training sessions as arranged by the team managers.
- Be registered for one or more of the leagues the club has entered.
- Be available for selection for matches (however it does not guarantee selection).
- The team managers are only responsible for registered members of CJFC during training sessions, tournaments, friendly, league and cup matches. Please see our page on 'Playing time guidelines'.

Why is my child suspended from training and not available for match selection?
Our membership rules in our club handbook state that any subs fees that are not paid by the deadlines set results in the member being unavailable for selection or able to train until the outstanding fees are paid. If you have genuine problems paying on ground of hardship then please contact the club chairman who can advise.

For further information on club rules please see the club handbook - also see the Playing Time & Squad size page for more information on how we as a club operate.
