The UNDER 14’s WHITES went in search of the treble in an attempt to emulate what their counterparts in the year above did 2 years ago!
In their way was a tough and physical Shipton Bellinger side, who had impressively seen off Barford in the quarter finals and another div 1 team in the semis.
With the squad depleted through injury, the whites took to the pitch with only 2 subs.
On a huge pitch, courtesy of Bemerton Heath Harlequins, this was going to be a long, hot afternoon for both teams.
The whites started on the front foot with some neat interplay, seemingly carving the Shipton defence open at will. It wasn’t long before the first goal came.
Having missed a decent chance just moments before, the dangerous Fin Fabi, was pult through by a sumptuous through ball from the impressive Alessio Murphy, and this time made no mistake with a smart finish to make it 1-0.
The whites continued to create chances with both Murphy and Thomas Woodhouse-Smith missing good chances.
Shipton were a great on the break and the defence of Tom Harwood and Leighton Gray dealt well with the forward balls of Shipton, ably assisted by Isaac Rawlinson and Zac Butler who both put in a shift at full back.
Half time came with the whites holding a narrow 1-0 lead. It was drilled into the boys the importance of keeping their shape and managing the game for the second half.
The whites once again started on the front foot and once more were moving the ball around with pace and purpose.
A number of corners came and went with no end result. However the early summer heat was having its effect and their opponents energetically kept going in search of a foothold into the game. Captain Jack Street was switched to centre back to help stabilise the back line and with Olly Harris, “the duracell bunny” Harry Moody and midfield warrior Rory Young mopping up in front, the whites goal was not under any apparent threat.
A questionable free kick on the edge of the whites box led to the first real chance of the game for Shipton.
From 20 yards out, the Shipton number 8 , all 6’2 of him complete with moustache, rifled a shot into the top corner which Hugh Wood in goal, who up until then had looked as assured as ever, could do little about.
It was all square. With only 15 minutes remaining, the game was up for grabs.
An inspired tactical switch (coach James Moody takes the credit for this one) meant a return to the strikers position for captain Street, with the equally impressive midfield warrior Young helping to shore things up at the back.
Within 2 minutes the ball was slipped through to Street from the ever industrious Alex Glover, who cooly slotted home to restore the whites lead. Could they now hold on?!
Within minutes, the ubiquitous Moody had the chance to put the game to bed but his shot went narrowly over. With time running out, the whites reinforced the midfield and tweaked the formation and looked solid - it was now a case of game management.
With 2 minutes of the game remaining, the ball bounced high into the whites half where Rawlinson, who was having another solid game, inadvertently handled the ball. Was lightening about to strike for a second time. The number 8 lined up another thunderbolt, however much to the relief of the Whites, the shot rolled tamely past the upright. The whites stayed solid and the final whistle blew! THEY DID IT….TREBLE WINNERS!!
As a team of coaches, we have to say that this group of lads deserve all credit that their success has brought them. Although maybe not the strongest league, they have won every game this season and have faced many challenges during the year, and have come back strongly in the face of adversity on many occasions. They show such determination and courage week in week out and are a credit to Clarendon and their parents and we are very proud of them.
The UNDER 13’s REDS were also in invitational cup action as they hosted Shipton Bellinger in their semi final.
Some fine goals were scored with Brian Mantey, Marko Siabruk, Rhys Denning and a 100th club goal for Harley Moores helping them to a 4-0 victory.
the UNDER 13’s WHITES hosted a friendly with CK Andover with Dom Pike scoring 4 goals in a 6-0 win.
Carlos Campbell and Stan Howland were also on target.
The UNDER 11’s REDS had a decimated squad for their final league game of the season due to the mini marathon and school concerts.
With Lawson Mahoney and Sam Harris from their usual teams playing up a year included, the Reds managed just about to field a team as they hosted Andover New Street.
Playing a slightly different formation than recent weeks it took the Reds a while to get going, Mahoney weaved his way down the left of the box and played a lovely ball across for Felix Soket to smash into the roof of the net from 6 yards.
They quickly scored a 2nd after some good work in defence by Toby Longstaff and then a great ball forward set Jack Bunt away and duly finished with aplomb. ANS then got a goal back but it didn’t deter the Reds one jot.
Lawson Mahoney picked up the ball centrally and picked out a lovely reverse pass for Bunt to go through 1 on 1 with the keeper to then produce a lovely little chopped finish past the keeper.
New Street had a lot of the play after this but some excellent defending Sam Harris, Frankie Duffill, Jack Easley, Jake O’ Donnell and Longstaff as well as a masterful display between the sticks by Dylan Hopkins kept them at bay until half time.
A couple of minor changes at half time disrupted the Reds slightly and New Street took advantage briefly. The Reds then settled back into a rhythm with Harris and Duffill running the centre of the park.
Jack Bunt calmly finished to get his hat trick and settle the Reds nerves. Felix Soket then excellently tucked away a penalty while O’Donnell was quick off his line a couple of times to thwart the ANS strikers and a back 3 of Hopkins, Longstaff and Easley playing at CDM ensured the reds didn’t concede again. Sam Harris chased down what was thought to be a lost cause and played the ball across for Jack Bunt to score an open goal for his 4th of the game.
An all round superb performance by the Reds with superb effort throughout. MOM went to Dylan Hopkins who had an excellent day in goal and in defence throughout.
The UNDER 7’s REDS p away at Tidworth Vipers in a repeat of the Allan Michener Spitfire plate final last week.
The Reds took an early lead but Tidworth kept up pressure with both teams fairly even matched throughout
It made for an entertaining end to end game.
Player of the match went to Reuben Durbin in the Reds goal who made some fine saves while Arlo Watts fired home a hatrick.
Evie Provan was on target twice with Oscar Bate and Archer Bissell adding their names to the scoresheet.
The UNDER 7’s WHITES finished the season in style with a friendly away to Fordingbridge.
The first quarter was a tight affair, with Clarendon unlucky with a couple of chances. But the deadlock in the game was broken after 6 minutes, when Ethan Glanville dribbled past opposition players before placing the ball around the keeper.
In the second the Whites added to their tally, with a hatrick from Joshua Willingale, the first a solo effort, the second after Ryan Burton crashed a long range shot off the cross bar with Willingale then slotting home the rebound. His third3 was set up by Teddy Oakley’s pass after a mazy run, with hm firing the ball in the net.
Burton added his name to the scoresheet with another trademark shot from outside the area, the ball flying into the top bins.
The third quarter saw Glanville at the double, turning on the half way line to sprint past the opposition and clip the ball past the keeper. Player of the match Burton then completed the Whites scoring in the last quarter, hitting the ball hard into the corner.
The UNDER 12’s SUNDAY hosted Andover Town in an 11-aside friendly.
With the team missing a few players, they started with just the bare 11, knowing it would be a tough morning in the heat.
Despite that they dominated the early stages of the game with Teddy Robinson, Luca Potgieter and Charlie Green pulling the strings in the midfield.
Debutant Alfie Mount settled well and was causing trouble with his footwork and movement and it wasn't long before he marked his debut with a goal - a looping half volley which beat the keeper.
Speaking of debutants on the other wing Jay Burden was enjoying his first game for the Sunday team when Robinson found a great through ball for Burden to tuck away.
Due to an injury Clarendon were down to 10 and Adrian Wyczolkowski made a good save half way through the first half as Andover started to get some chances.
Clarendon remained dangerous though and Green found Robinson who fought off the defender to score.
Late in the first half Robinson found Sam Harris who blazed the ball into the roof of the net.
The second half began and Andover grew into the game and started to get chances but the defence remained strong with Zach Andrews, Oliver Davies and Oscar Turner all playing remarkable games.
Green continued to control the game with the ball at his feet finding numerous quality passes one of which found Tom Latter who made no mistake in beating the keeper.
Wyczolkowski made a save that will live long in the memory as he tipped a shot from close range onto the bar before Andrews threw his head in to clear another shot off the line.
A great performance from the team as they ran out 5-0 victors.
During the week the UNDER 13’s GREENS hosted a friendly with Andover New Street going down 4-2 win goals from Ruby Lumber and Ellie Moore.
The UNDER 12’s won 4-3 at home to Laverstock in a friendly. The visitors took the lead while the Reds came to terms with new formations but once they settled they get a foothold in the game.
Goals cam from Jay Burden, Jonty Simpson and a brace from Tom Latter with the winner coming in the closing minutes.
The UNDER 11’s SUNDAY and UNDER 11’s REDS played out a thrilling 6-6 draw with Oscar Bullis and Jack Bunt at the double for their respective teams. Dylan Baldwin, Teddy Guymer, Henry Pennels and a debut goal from Kyle Porteous completed the Sunday scoring sheet, with Frankie Duffel, Henry Golden, Elikem Mantey and Henry Lehman scoring on his debut for the Reds.
,
There was a debut double from Jonas Strong and two from Rowan Rawley for the UNDER 8’s WHITES in their inter club friendly with the REDS who scored thanks to two goals from Eddie Harris and a goal a piece from Oscar Watts and Tom Brown.
