Cleethorpes Town visit Skegness United on Saturday in a match which could go a long way to deciding the Sills & Betteridge Lincolnshire League title.
The unbeaten Owls remain in pole position with 63 points from 23 matches so far this season.
United are 16 points behind Cleethorpes but have five games in hand meaning, with two matches against Andy Liddle’s men still to be played, they remain well in the hunt for the championship.
Cleethorpes Town remain unbeaten since October 2010 but Skegness United too have an impressive unbeaten run. The first team haven’t lost a league fixture since 31st August last year – a 4-2 defeat to Grimsby Borough Reserves at the Bradley FDC.
Needless to say, both teams are in excellent goal scoring form. The Owls have scored 14 goals since the festive break while Skegness have found the net nine times.
In addition, Cleethorpes Town have not conceded since 17th December, with goalkeeper Scott Drury having not been beaten in 315 minutes of competitive football – 405 minutes if Saturday’s 5-0 friendly win over Brigg Town is included.
Skegness’ main threats will be Paul Watts and Kurt Crossley. The duo has 30 goals between them this season and will be looking to add to their tally by finding a way past Drury and his steadfast defence.
Kick-off at Wainfleet Road Playing Field in Skegness is 2pm.
Cleethorpes Town Football Club will be running a minibus for this weekend’s trip to Skegness. We would like as many people as possibly to come down and support the team. The cost will be £5 and those interested in making the journey should contact David Mann at david@cleethorpestownfc.co.uk.
