Safety top priority for the Owls

***4.45pm - 16th October 2020***

After much consideration & deliberation during the course of the week, the Board of the Club has unanimously decided that we will not be travelling to Merseyside tomorrow to play our FA Trophy tie against City of Liverpool FC.

This is not an easy decision or one that has been taken lightly. However, as a result of the current Government guidance regarding travel in & out of "tier 3" regions, we feel that it is the only feasible option. We will not place our players, management, officials & fans, as well as the wider communities in Liverpool and Lincolnshire, at any unnecessary risk during these unprecedented times.

We have taken on-board the assurances of our safety from our Northern Premier League counterparts and appreciate all their efforts. Nevertheless, for the reasons outlined, we cannot responsibly proceed with the match.

We know our loyal fans had been looking forward to the trip. However, we were informed by the FA this afternoon that, in any event, away supporters would not have been granted access to the stadium.

Finally, our position is fully supported by North East Lincolnshire Council and our local Member of Parliament (Mr Martin Vickers). We wish to place on record our many thanks for their kind assistance.

The Club will be making no further comment on this matter.

UP THE OWLS!
