Honours even in 3-3 draw ...

The Young Owls travelled away too Mablethorpe to face Mablethorpe Athletic on Saturday 31st October . With David Birch returning in goal and Tom Wingate coming into the back four alongside Joel Mann at centre back , Daniel Cook continuing at left back and Alex Dwyer returning at right back . Andy Bradley was again skippered the side in front of the back 4 with JJ Smith starting in the centre for the first time alongside Callum DeGruchy and Oliver Howard playing at the tip of the diamond behind Paul Jones and Reece Moody . Mablethorpe came straight out the blocks with Wingate blocking a goal bound effort in which from the resulting corner was finished on 3 minutes however a great response a minute saw Jones chase down a ball into the channel and was brought down . Jones himself stepped up and finished the resulting penalty in the top corner . Mablethorpe took the lead on 7 minutes with a tidy finish but again the Owls responded on 9 when a superb pass from DeGruchy found Moody on the corner of the box and struck a great strike across the keeper into the opposite corner . The game calmed down a bit in terms of chances but Bitch did manage to make a great save on 20 minutes to keep the scores level . Right on half time Mablethorpe went ahead again which was harsh on the Owls . The second half saw a change of shape and formation and when on 55 minutes Mablethorpe were reduced to 10 men after an off the ball incident . Keenan McGrath came on for Howard on 60 minutes and 5 minutes later Mablethorpe were reduced too 9 after a late challenge which saw Dwyer forced off with Maciej Jesionowski taking his place . 70 minutes gone the Owls had a corner that Jones worked short to DeGruchy who fed it into Moody whose brilliant step over fell too the feet of Mann who with his left foot guided the ball brilliantly into the bottom corner , was a great build up and great to see the imagination and no fear from the young lads . As we pushed hard for the winner we couldn't quite find that bit of a opening needed as Mablethorpe defended well . The game finished 3-3 with JJ Smith picking up the Man of Match award after a superb display in the heart of the midfield , Mann and Wingate was again looked good at centre half also . Sounds like a broken record but once again in a squad of 13 , 8 lads were only playing junior football 6 months ago at the Club , the maturity , no fear and attitude are a testament too the Club and themselves . The 'A' team are at home on Saturday 7th November vs All Star Panthers FC with a 2pm kick off with free entry it's a great opportunity to see the future of the club in action all the support is appreciated .
